Self Care with Audio Wellness Tech

Image
The science is clear: Deep   sleep  is one of the most important ways we can positively impact our   physical   and   mental   well-being. But according to a Phillips international survey conducted in 2021, just 32% of people reported feeling rested most mornings. That’s helping fuel interest in audio wellness tech that help you fall/stay asleep as well as meditation aids that ease anxiety and stress when we’re awake — with the goal of improving sleep.   Sleep earbuds and headbands must be low-profile and fit securely enough to let you sleep in whatever position you normally use without causing an ounce of discomfort and without falling out in the middle of the night. The reason these devices often lack active noise cancellation is because that would both add bulk and be less effective at mitigating higher-frequency sounds like voices and  traffic  than masking (obscuring unwanted sounds with a wash of noise). Also, in a nod to the ample scientific evidence that phones are terrible pre

Apple to Release Bug-Fixing Update for iOS 16 Users Next Week

Image
iPhone users that have downloaded the latest iOS 16 operating   system   have reported a number of issues ranging from copy and paste bugs to shaky cameras when using certain apps. These issues come from unintended bugs that slipped through the company’s notice before the first version of iOS 16 was released. But iPhone users won’t have to deal with these annoyances much longer as   Apple will soon be releasing   a new version of the system that fixes these issues. This update is supposed to come out next week, though the specific day is currently unknown. In other operating system related news, the “first major update” to Windows 11 has just been released by Microsoft. Some of the noteworthy features include app folders in the Start menu, a number of new accessibility features, drag and drop capabilities on the taskbar and an assortment of touch gestures and animations. Despite the launch of the Windows 11 2022 Update, as it’s being called, it will not be available on all Windows devi

Making Your Smart Home Entrance Smarter

Image
Safety and   security   remain the leading purchase drivers of   smart home   devices. Smart door locks and smart access control systems provide a foundation of security by helping   consumers  and building owners/operators monitor and secure the primary access points.   A Future of Services    In addition to these secure entry capabilities, smart door locks and smart access control systems also double as points of access for a future world of services. Companies are vying for control of access points into homes and buildings that enable service opportunities, such as in-home, in-unit, and in-garage delivery,  health  and  wellness  solutions, cleaning and pet care services,  home  and unit rental solutions, and much more. Alignments and partnerships are also helping expand the market beyond safety and security use cases. For example, door lock manufacturers have established  integrations  with Airbnb and HomeAway reservation systems to enable home hosts to grant access to guests. OEMs

AIPER Unveils New Dive Series at IFA 2022

The company that innovated robotic pool cleaners by creating the world’s first cordless models has unveiled their new Dive series at IFA 2022. Pool owners will now spend less time cleaning with two new products – the Dive A and Dive E. This new collection of robots features longer cleaning times, shorter charging times, and broader surface cleaning capabilities. The Dive Series is equipped with   Aiper ’s gyroscope technology, dual-drive motors, self-parking capabilities, new filter bags, and an upgraded LED indication system. All of this to say, Aiper is raising the stakes in the pool cleaning industry. According to the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals, there are 10.4 million residential and 309,000 public swimming pools in the United States. And where there’s pools, there’s the tedious task of pool cleaning – which means less time spent in the water and more time dealing with sand, dirt, leaves or any other fun-spoiling debris. Which is why the only way to get that time back

FTC Opens Investigation into Amazon’s iRobot Takeover

Image
Amazon made headlines earlier this summer when it purchased iRobot, manufacturer of the wildly popular Roomba vacuum cleaner, for  $1.7 billion . Amazon’s expansion hasn’t been limited to the consumer electronics sector. In July, it also announced the purchase of One Medical for  $3.9 billion  in an entirely cash deal. Those of you who may be a bit concerned by the scope of the company and how it handles consumer data are not alone. The FTC has officially begun a probe into the takeovers to see if Amazon has violated any antitrust laws.  The FTC is investigating to see whether Amazon’s acquisition of iRobot will give it an unfair advantage over competitors in the connected device and retail market. Chief among the FTC’s concerns is the data generated by iRobot. The FTC worries, that given all the data that iRobot and Roomba produce while creating smart layouts of people’s homes, Amazon could  develop an unfair advantage  for tailoring advertisements towards consumers in other sectors w

Capitalizing on the Wearable Turnover

Image
While   smartphones   have traditionally led the way when it comes to   connected devices , the rapid rise of   hearables   and wearables and their growing popularity amongst tech savvy consumers is widening the breadth of consumer connected devices. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), in 2021 the wearables market grew 20 percent year over year with total shipments reaching 533 million units.  With more hearable and wearable product options being introduced to the  market  at a variety of price points, retailers can offer customers more opportunities to  upgrade  to the next generation of smart watches, fitness trackers, earbuds, etc. It’s a great time to begin cultivating the secondary device ecosystem for these devices, using the thriving trade-in market for smartphones as the blueprint for capturing the latent value in pre-owned products while providing incentives for customers to upgrade to new devices.   Factors  Driving Market Growth    The growth in the hearab

How Retailers Can Capitalize on the Inflation Reduction Act

In 2021,   EV   sales totaled   6.6 million or 8.6 percent  of all new car sales and that number is only expected to increase over the coming years after the   Inflation Reduction Act  was signed into law earlier this month. The new measure features funding for over 500,000 new EV chargers and provides a slew of incentives for customers and manufacturers alike. The target of the new legislature is to get more low-income consumers into electric vehicles to increase mass adoption of the cars and to buck the image of EVs as unobtainable luxury vehicles. California, one of the states on the forefront of pushing for EV adaptation has a program awarding low-income customers nearly $17,500 towards purchasing a used EV.  The Inflation Reduction Act is the first step in the Biden administration’s goal of reaching half of all new cars sold being electric by 2030. While EVs are becoming increasingly popular in states such as California and Massachusetts, progress is lacking across much of middl

1MORE EVO’s Hi-Fi Audio

Image
If COVID-19 taught us anything, it’s our need to stay connected. Our workplace and lives shifted online, and technology adapted to our demands: Zoom took center stage;   computers   improved; we bought ring lights and headphones; we spent more time texting and on social media. We all learned how to stay connected to the world by connecting to our  technology . However, we shouldn’t have to sacrifice our connection to technology as we shift back to in-person activities and rekindle our human connections face-to-face. That’s where 1MORE EVO earbuds come into play. 1MORE EVO headphones deliver H-Fi sound with adaptive active noise cancellation (ANC), so users can stay connected to the world and comes equipped with six mics for those still working over   zoom .   How It Works:   As I unboxed the 1MORE EVO headphones, I was shocked at its ability to balance the aesthetic with the informational. Sketches of the headphones and its various features artistically coat the box’s interior but ev
